Teton Valley. My favorite place in the whole wide world. Well actually, that picture isn't the valley, it's a view of the Grand, but whatevs. This post was originally just going to be part two of my awesome hike, but I've decided there's a bit more I need to share.
Guys, I'm famous! Sort of. Okay, not really. Let me explain. For those of you who don't know, I spent the last two summers up in Driggs, Idaho working for my aunt and uncle at the Corner Drug Store. I absolutely loved it! I spent last weekend up there, enjoying the mountains, family, and mostly the store. I went in twice and just hung out with the girls for a while. Like a couple of hours...I really miss them! But back to the fame part...
Last summer Aaron would take pictures of us doing something different every week to send to the newspaper. Pictures grab the reader's attention much better than a normal ad. One week he took a photo of me and McKenna making a milkshake together. Terrible picture, really. A couple of weeks ago, Aaron sent me a link to a real estate article highlighting some of the great things about Idaho. One of them was the milkshakes at Corner Drug Store in Driggs. And you know what? The article used our picture! So for the past two weeks, I've had people sending me this article, "just in case you haven't seen this yet, you're on the internet!" Yes, people, I've seen the article. Here it is for those of you who haven't seen it (We're #13): http://www.movoto.com/blog/real-estate-and-more/moving-to-idaho/
Amid the Myler family festivities and the visiting of my favorite store in the whole wide world, me and the boys decided to go up early and hike Table Rock. This is Table Rock, and the previous photo is the view from Table Rock, which I took last summer when I hiked it with my aunt.
Yeah, we didn't end up hiking Table Rock, as you can see from the photo. (We should be on top of that flat piece of land.) We took the wrong trail head - easy mistake to do, let me tell you - and ended up hiking up to The Wall, which is a different view of the Grand, and doesn't have an actual trail to it. We totally went off-roading; trails are for pansies. It was an awesome view - though not as good as Table Rock - and the hike was a total of approximately 20 miles, instead of the 12 miles it would have been up Table Rock. There was an elevation increase of at least 4,000 feet in less than 2 miles. There was a ton of snow, which also meant a ton of run-off, which made the hike even more exciting. I really deserved that milkshake I got...But it was nice because Table Rock gets a lot of traffic, and The Wall, well, doesn't get much traffic.
The boys were pretty awesome about letting me take pictures of them, which was great. I have some pretty legit photos, though sadly no panoramas. Jason sent me some really spectacular ones that he took on his phone, but they're too small to see on the computer screen. So I guess you'll just have to use your imaginations to connect the photos from The Wall together. Enjoy!
We sort of had a snow ball fight. In July.
My close up of this was super bleary because I was sort of sliding down the side of a mountain when I took it. The boys decided to just go straight up the side of the mountain through the snow, but I went a more round about way through the mud. It was probably one of the dumbest things I've ever done. I'm glad to be alive! Jason's selfie shows exactly how steep it was...
The Wall
Most deserved Clif bar. Ever.
Wow, when I saw your first pic. I was thinking it was in the Alps or something. Gorgeous.
