Three days, three days, three days of finals left! (That was a song and dance if you didn't catch it ;) Sooooo, I have a final at 8 Wednesday morning, and by 2 I'll be on my way home. Yaaaaaaayy!! Sorry, I guess I'm just a little excited for summer to start :) I've just got so many plans, would you like to hear about them?
1. Instead of flying (gross), I am taking the train home. It's supposed to be the most scenic route through America, and it'll take three days. I have a four hour layover in Chicago, so pictures of me on the Skydeck will be forthcoming. I pull in to Salt Lake late Friday night, and I'll be back in good ol' Blackfoot by Saturday morning!
The rest of these are in no particular order...
2. I'm doing a Color Run with my BFF Katie in July. It's going to be totally legit, and all of you are welcome to do it with us.
3. I have abhorred not being able to cook. So over the summer I'm going to try and make all of the recipes I've pinned on Pinterest. Except maybe not all of the desserts, because then we would all be very fat. Hopefully my family doesn't get too tired of chicken! This also means that this blog will probably end up as a blog covered with pictures of food, so don't read it on Fast Sunday!
4. I have a suuuuuuuuuuuuper long reading list. As my parents know so well, if I start a book, I don't put it down until it's finished. I've found that that means more time reading, a lot less time doing everything else that needs to be done, so I haven't done too much reading for fun this school year. I've already got my books for the train ride ready to go :)
5. We don't know exactly when, but my dad and I are definitely doing the Teton Crest Trail this summer. It's a five day hike in the Tetons, and it's happening.
6. I'm going to start learning Russian. In Ukraine, I'll be living with a host family, who will speak Russian. So if any of you have a secret gift with Russian that I don't know about, I'd love your help! Ukraine also brings me to the next item on my list...
7. Fundraising. ILP encourages you to fundraise as much as possible for your trip since it's a volunteer abroad. You'll definitely be hearing more about this later on, but if any of you have ideas or would like to help, I'd love you forever!
8. Guys, I really need to get over my fears and learn to drive stick shift. Preferably from someone with a lot of patience. And I mean a LOT, because last time my dad and I almost died. True story.
9. I have missed being close to a temple this year, so I really want to take advantage of living 30 minutes away. If anyone in Blackfoot would like to start a carpooling-baptism group, let me know! Otherwise, I am moving into an apartment across the street from the Rexburg temple come September.
10. If all of my plans go according to plan, this is my last free summer for the next few years. That means: lots of nights on the trampoline with Robin, LOTS of s'mores, swimming, water-skiing, and whatever else people in Idaho do for fun in the few months of warmth!
And those are a few of the things I'd like to do between Wednesday and school starting again in September. I could list more, but my empty suitcases are calling my name, so I'll say adieu. Next time some of you hear from me, it may be in person!
